Debtanu (Deb) is an Assistant Professor of Strategy (Research track) at Nova School of Business and Economics, Lisbon. In the summer of 2022, he earned his doctorate in Strategy and Business Policy from HEC Paris, thereby formally concluding a very fulfilling intellectual journey that started back in the Fall of 2017.

 

Deb was born and raised in India, where he completed all his pre-doctoral education. He obtained a Bachelors’ degree in Civil Engineering and a Masters’ in Human Resource Management before commencing his doctoral studies. Besides, he also gathered some industry experience of around four years back in India, two years in the urban utilities and infrastructure sector, right after his Bachelors, and later as a human resource generalist in the energy infrastructure sector.
 

His research interests lie at the intersection of business and politics, an area popularly recognized in academia as Non-market strategy, sometimes also referred to as Institutional strategy. His work has been accepted for publication at Strategic Management Journal, and presented at various international conferences, including the annual meetings of the Academy of Management, the Strategic Management Society, and the Academy of International Business.
